The incident happened in the early hours of yesterday when the 16-year- old and his friends became involved in a row with another group over damage to a car at Beaverstown Road in Donabate, Co Dublin. At around 5.30am the victim was forced into the boot of a silver Volkswagen Passat, which was then driven off in the direction of Donabate village. It is understood the boys family was contacted and a ransom demand- ed but no money changed hands. It is believed the 16-year-old es- caped from the car close to the M50 in the Ronanstown area of Clondalkin at around 9am and managed to make a call to garda using the emergency phone on the side of the motorway. Garda took him to Beaumont hos- pital and he was discharged later after being treated for head injuries. A Garda source said: This is not a typical abduction. It appears to have been spontaneous. Garda later arrested a 19-year-old man in Ronanstown and recovered the car believed to have been used in the incident. The man was being questioned last night at Swords Garda station.
